About the park

The safari park was opened in June 2004 with the aim to give the public the opportunity to come close to the king of the forest and to get a deeper understanding of the big animals without disturbing their natural behavior. This is only possible by driving through the park as the moose do not perceive vehicles as something threatening.

The moose park is 15 hectares large and features a 3 km long road through the forest where the moose roam freely. In the northern part of the park, the road leads to the Bison Valley. Here lives a herd of American bisons.

The farm that the safari park is built around has a long history where the moose have been in the center. In 1910 the first hunting club in Sweden was founded here and the first moose was hunted on the same area as the safari park. A photo of Fredrik who shot the first moose is to be seen in the old 1700s building that used to be the main farm house.
